Double Chevron [W] pattern [S] Twist [worked right to left]

Headstick Set Up

Double chevron [W] pattern [S] twist interlinked fingerweaving tutorial patter will be worked from the right hand side to the left hand side of the workpiece.

The hedstick is set up using two contrasting colors for the chevron pattern and a third color for borders.

The total number of strands of each color must be divisible by four.

For this tutorial the strands are cast on to the headstick in the following order:
6 [border color], 4 [color 1], 8 [color 2], 8 [color 1], 8 [color 2], 4 [color 1],6 [border color].

The shed is picked up on the index finger of the left hand. The bottom layer of the shed is under the index finger. The top layer of the shed is over the index finger.

[NOTE] The headstick is set up so that the first strand on the right hand side of the workpiece is in the bottom layer of the shed.

First Pass--Section One

Start on the right hand side of the workpiece, weave [S] twist interlink fingerweaving until one strand of the border color band is unused.

[NOTE] The strands of the first chevron color band on the right hand side are used as twining strands.

[NOTE] The twining strand form the legs of the cheveron pattern.

Pass the first top shed strand of second chevron color band through the shed of the first set of twining strands.

Complete the [S] twist link of the second chevron color band to the border color band.

[NOTE] This link to the border color band forms the beginning of the right hand leg of the next right hand chevron.

Continue [S] twist interlink weaving of the second chevron color band of the workpiece.

Stop when there is one unused strand of the second chevron color band.

[NOTE] The center chevron color band is the same color as the first chevron color band and will be used as two sets of twining strands.The second and third set of twining strands.

[NOTE] These two sets of twining strand will be the adjacent legs of the two point down cheverons and also the legs of the point up cheveron.

Pass the unused strand of the second chevron color band through the shed of the second set of twining strands to the midle of the workpiece.

[NOTE] The second chevron color band from the left hand edge of the workpiece is the same color as the second chevron color band from the right hand edge of the workpiece.

Pass the first top shed strand of the left hand side second cheveron color band through the shed of the third set of twining strands.

Complete the [S] twist link of the left hand side second color band to the right hand side of second color band.

[NOTE] This link forms the apex of the next point up part of the [W] pattern of the double chevron.

Check to see that there are no loose strands.

Start on the right hand side of the workpiece, weave [S] twist interlink fingerweaving until there is only one unused strand before the first set of twining strands.

[OBSERVE] The unused strand is a second chevron color band.

Pass the next top shed strand of second chevron color band through the shed of the first set of twining strands.
